Hamptons group transportation at a glance

Book one vehicle sized to the headcount and the bags: a 14-passenger Mercedes Sprinter for most share houses, the 7-seat Jet Sprinter or the conference-table Luxury Sprinter when the ride matters, a mini bus seating 23 to 38, or a 55-passenger coach for a wedding or company weekend.

Everyone is collected from one or two agreed addresses in the city, or at JFK and LaGuardia arrivals, and dropped together at the house in Southampton, East Hampton, Montauk or anywhere between.

From Midtown the drive usually takes 2 to 3 hours, and longer on a summer Friday. Each vehicle has a flat fare for the run, confirmed in writing before you travel.

Book the Sunday return with the trip out. Dispatch answers 24/7, 365 days a year on (718) 360-9383.

Who books a group run east

Five kinds of Hamptons group trip.

Each is one booking with one dispatcher holding it, however many vehicles it needs.

Share-house weekends

The whole house out on Friday in one 14-passenger Sprinter and back on Sunday or Monday, with the fare split however the house likes.

Sprinter van service

Wedding guest shuttles

Mini buses or a coach between the guest hotels and the venue on a fixed schedule, so nobody hunts for a taxi on the South Fork late in the evening.

Wedding transportation

Company retreats and golf days

Out from the office on the first morning, back on the last afternoon. The 14-seat Luxury Sprinter has a conference table for a team that works on the way.

Corporate transportation

Family reunions

Three generations collected from two or three addresses and delivered to the rental together. One or two Sprinters usually suit better than a bus.

A van kept by the hour

Summer parking near the beaches and villages is scarce. Book a Sprinter by the hour for a day of stops; the rate and minimum show when you quote.

The fleet

Vans first, buses when the group outgrows them.

Vans open first: the 14-passenger Sprinter, the conference-table Luxury Sprinter, the 7-seat Jet Sprinter and the cargo Sprinter. Buses take over from 23 passengers.

In depth

One vehicle out east instead of a convoy

Why groups stop taking four cars

Ten friends in four cars means four drivers, four arrival times and four cars to fit into one driveway. Someone leaves work late, someone misses the turn at Manorville, and the first car waits outside the house for the last. One Sprinter or mini bus collects everyone and arrives once, with the whole group and its luggage, and nobody spends the weekend's first afternoon behind the wheel.

Friday out, Sunday back

Two roads do most of the work. The Long Island Expressway runs to Exit 70 at Manorville, where traffic turns south to Route 27; Sunrise Highway runs along the South Shore and is the natural line from JFK and southern Brooklyn. On a summer Friday both slow from early afternoon, and past the Shinnecock Canal almost everyone shares one road anyway.

So the bigger lever is the departure time: before lunch on Friday, or after the evening rush. Sunday is the mirror image, with westbound traffic building from early afternoon, so a morning or Monday return is easier. Tell us whether a fixed arrival or the lightest roads matters more, and we time the pickup to suit.

Luggage, beach gear and the cargo Sprinter

A weekend group packs more than an airport group: beach chairs, umbrellas, golf bags, strollers and groceries for the house, on top of the suitcases. A 14-passenger Sprinter takes about 14 standard bags, one per seat when it is full, and the gear fills that fast.

When it does, we add the cargo Sprinter. It carries no passengers and travels with the van, taking the overflow so the cabin stays comfortable. On a wedding or retreat weekend it also carries the event materials.

Good to know

Hamptons questions, answered.

How much is a Sprinter van to the Hamptons?

The run from Manhattan is a flat fare for the vehicle, not per person: from $848 for a 14-passenger Sprinter and from $1,121 for a 23-passenger mini bus, all-inclusive. It is confirmed in writing when you book, so Friday traffic does not change it.

Should our group leave on Friday or Saturday for a Hamptons weekend?

The hour matters more than the day. A Friday departure before lunch, or after the evening rush, misses the worst eastbound traffic; Saturday morning is usually calmer still but costs a night. Tell us your plan and we will suggest a pickup time.

What if our group has more luggage than the van can hold?

Add the cargo Sprinter. It carries no passengers and runs alongside your van or bus with the extra suitcases, beach gear and golf bags. Give us a rough bag count when you book; a full 14-passenger Sprinter holds about 14 standard bags on its own.

Can you shuttle wedding guests between hotels and a venue in the Hamptons?

Yes. A mini bus or coach runs timed trips from the guest hotels to the ceremony and back after the reception, on a schedule agreed in writing. Many venues out east sit down narrow lanes or gravel drives, so we settle the loading point with the venue beforehand.
