The four airports

Which airport, in plain terms.

Each field has its own page with terminals, fares and the meet for that airport. Start with the one on your ticket.

JFK — Queens

John F. Kennedy International is the biggest of the four and New York's main long-haul gateway, with Terminals 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8 around a single loop road. Two are being rebuilt, so we confirm your terminal and door before the pickup.

JFK airport car service

LaGuardia — Queens

The closest field to Manhattan and mostly domestic flights. Terminals B and C were rebuilt from the ground up in recent years, and the pickup areas moved with them, so an old memory of the kerb is not much help here.

LaGuardia airport car service

Newark Liberty — New Jersey

Three terminals, A, B and C, with United's hub in C. It sits on the tunnel side of the city, reached through the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel, so it is often the easier airport from the West Side, Lower Manhattan or anywhere in New Jersey.

Newark airport car service

Teterboro — New Jersey

Private aviation only: no scheduled airlines, no terminal crowds and no baggage hall. The pickup happens at the FBO, the private terminal that looks after your aircraft, and we settle the details with its front desk ahead of the landing.

How a pickup works

The same five steps at every airport.

The terminals differ; the way we run the pickup does not.

You give us the flight number

With it we follow the aircraft from departure. An early landing brings the pickup forward and a delay pushes it back, without you having to call anyone from the plane.

Name sign or kerbside

Meet-and-greet puts your chauffeur inside the terminal with a name sign, ready to help with the bags. Kerbside is quicker if you travel light: you walk out to the pre-arranged car area and the car is waiting there.

Waiting after you land

The waiting time is counted from when the aircraft actually touches down, not from the timetable, so a late inbound does not eat into it. A slow carousel or a missing bag is a call to dispatch, not a missed car.

International arrivals take longer

Passport control and customs come before baggage claim, and on a busy afternoon they can add an hour or more. We plan an international pickup around that, so nobody is rushing you through the hall.

Everything confirmed in writing

Before the trip you receive the terminal, the meeting point and your chauffeur's contact details in writing. If the airline moves you to a different terminal, dispatch moves the pickup with you.

The fleet

Choose the vehicle by bags as well as people.

A sedan takes 3 passengers, the Escalade 6 with more room for luggage, and a Sprinter up to 14. Filter by Cars, Vans or Buses and quote the one that fits your party and your suitcases.

Airport pages

Every airport, and the drive into the city.

Each airport page covers its own terminals and fares. Groups on several flights, and the JFK to Manhattan run, have pages of their own.

In depth

Choosing between New York's airports

Sometimes the airline chooses, sometimes you do

On a long-haul international trip the airline usually settles the question, because most of those flights leave from JFK or Newark. Domestic trips are different. The same city pair is often flown from two or even three New York fields, and picking the right one changes the length of the drive at both ends of the journey — worth a minute's thought before you buy the ticket rather than after.

Where you start matters as much as where you fly. Queens, Brooklyn, the East Side and Long Island sit naturally on the JFK and LaGuardia side of the city. The West Side, the Financial District, Staten Island and most of New Jersey are often closer in practice to Newark, because the Holland and Lincoln tunnels and the Turnpike reach it without crossing the whole of Queens.

Traffic, not distance, sets the clock

On a map the four airports sit between ~8 and ~16 miles from Midtown. On the road the difference is mostly traffic: the Van Wyck and the Belt Parkway towards JFK, the Grand Central towards LaGuardia, and the tunnel approaches on the way to Newark and Teterboro. A weekday rush-hour run can take twice as long as the same trip late in the evening.

So a departure is planned backwards from your airline's check-in cutoff and your pickup address, not from a rule of thumb, and the quote is a flat fare instead of a meter. If the expressway stops moving the price stays where it was; only the pickup time is a judgement, and we agree it with you when you book.

Good to know

NYC airports questions, answered.

Which New York airport is closest to Manhattan?

LaGuardia, about 8 miles from Midtown in northern Queens, which usually makes it the quickest airport ride from Midtown and the East Side. JFK and Newark are roughly twice as far, and which of those two is faster depends on your starting point and the hour. Teterboro is about 12 miles out, over the George Washington Bridge or through the Lincoln Tunnel.

Is Newark or JFK better if I am staying on the West Side?

Often Newark. From the West Side, Chelsea, Tribeca or the Financial District the drive goes through the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel and avoids crossing Queens, so it can be the shorter ride at busy hours. If your flight only leaves from JFK the question answers itself, and we are happy to quote both before you buy the ticket.

Will my chauffeur meet me inside the terminal?

Yes, when you book meet-and-greet: the chauffeur waits inside with a name sign and helps with the bags. If you would rather walk straight out, pick a kerbside pickup at the area set aside for pre-arranged cars. Whichever you choose, the terminal and meeting point are sent to you in writing before you fly.

What happens if my flight is late or lands somewhere else?

We follow the flight, so a delay simply moves the pickup and the waiting time starts from the actual landing. If your flight is diverted to another New York airport, call dispatch and the car is sent to the field you really land at. Dispatch is staffed around the clock for exactly this.

Can you take a big group to the airport?

Yes. A Sprinter seats up to 14, and above that our mini buses and coaches take over. When a group arrives on several flights, our airport group transfers page explains how we split the vehicles and keep one dispatcher on the whole movement; this page covers everyday transfers for one traveller, a family or a small team.

NYC airports at a glance

Golden Class Limo runs chauffeured transfers to and from all four New York airports: JFK and LaGuardia in Queens, Newark Liberty in New Jersey, and Teterboro, the private-aviation field in Bergen County. The same booking covers a sedan for one traveller or a van for a family with a lot of bags.

The airport matters more than most people expect. LaGuardia is the shortest drive to Midtown, JFK carries most of the long-haul international flights, Newark is often the quicker field for the West Side, Lower Manhattan and New Jersey, and Teterboro handles private jets only.

Every arrival is flight-tracked, so the pickup follows the real landing time. You choose a chauffeur waiting inside with a name sign or a kerbside pickup at the pre-arranged car area, and the terminal and meeting point reach you in writing before the trip.

Fares are flat and include tolls, quoted before you book: a sedan between Manhattan and LaGuardia starts at $128. Questions before you book? Call (718) 360-9383; the line is staffed 24/7, 365 days a year.
