New York Restaurant Week, January 17 – February 12, 2023

The Big Apple is home to some of the best restaurants in the world, and New York Restaurant Week is their chance to shine. The “week” has extended into nearly a month, but the concept remains the same: Hundreds of restaurants throughout the city offer prix-fixe meals at deep discounts to attract new customers. Participating restaurants will reveal their menus and begin taking reservations in early January.

If you miss the winter restaurant week, don’t worry. The biannual event also takes place in the summer, usually near the end of July or the beginning of August.

New York Botanical Gardens Orchid Show, February 18 – April 23, 2023

Add some color to an early spring visit to NYC with a visit to the New York Botanical Gardens’ annual Orchid Show. Inside the garden’s Victorian-era conservatory, thousands of orchids are arranged in “living sculptures” by the Belgian florist Daniel Obst. On select evenings during the show, visitors can enjoy live music and dance performances among the flowers.

An all-day admission ticket to the New York Botanical Gardens includes the Orchid Show and other special events happening at the gardens.

New York International Auto Show, April 7 – 16, 2023

If you love cars and want to see the newest, most innovative designs and upcoming vehicles, then you don’t want to miss the New York International Auto Show. In 2022, organizers created an all-new experience with an entire show floor dedicated to electric vehicles, and the 2023 show promises more exciting surprises. Visitors can explore two floors of displays from the world’s leading automakers and get a taste of what’s to come in vehicle design and tech.

The New York International Auto Show tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Ninth Avenue International Food Festival, May 20 – 21, 2023

A longstanding New York tradition, the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival attracts more than one million people yearly with food from around the world. Stretching down 9th Avenue from 42nd to 57th Street, the festival features local restaurants and food vendors offering delights from Greece, Poland, Spain, Korea, and more. Attendees also enjoy live entertainment, from Irish step dancers and belly dancers to international music acts.

Admission to this family-friendly New York City event is free.

Shakespeare in the Park, Summer 2023

A beloved summer tradition, Shakespeare in the Park performances are can’t-miss New York City events. Most evenings from late June through August, Central Park’s Delacorte Theatre is home to free, large-scale performances of classic William Shakespeare works. Watch for announcements about the 2023 season, including dates and selected shows, in the spring.

Tickets are free and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the performance.

Village Halloween Parade, October 31, 2023

The legendary Village Halloween Parade is New York City’s largest Halloween event, with millions of people participating and watching. 2023 marks the 50th year of this Halloween tradition, which welcomes anyone to participate as long as you wear a costume. Expect an announcement of this year’s parade theme this summer.

The free parade starts at Canal Street and travels north on 6th Avenue to 15th Street. In addition to costumed revelers, the parade includes giant puppets, bands, floats, and hundreds of dancers.
